Garden decking & terraces

Level, solid, well-fixed decks that stay flat and stay put — timber or composite.

Decking looks simple until you see one that's already sagging after two winters. I build on a proper joist structure with correct spans, ventilation and drainage, so it stays level and lasts. Small back-garden platforms up to raised terraces.

What's included

  • Groundwork and levelling
  • Concrete pad or ground-screw footings where needed
  • Treated joist structure, correctly spanned and ventilated
  • Timber (softwood/hardwood) or composite deck boards
  • Step build, edge trims and skirting
  • Handrails and balustrades where the height requires

How the work runs

  1. 1

    Send garden photos

One wide photo, ideally with measurements or a rough sketch.

  2. 2

    Quote and design chat

Free quote with material options — timber vs composite, colour choices.

  3. 3

    Groundwork first

Old surfaces up, ground levelled, footings set, then structure and boards.

  4. 4

    Handover

Deck cleaned, offcuts and old material taken away.

Timing: A standard back-garden deck runs 3–6 working days. Raised terraces with steps and balustrades a little longer.

Frequently asked questions

  • Composite lasts longer and needs almost no maintenance but costs more upfront. Timber looks great and is cheaper but needs oiling every year or two.
